Carol Mendoza
Principal & Lead Learner
View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy
Principal Mendoza is excited to begin the 2025–2026 school year, marking her 24th year in education! A proud Husky, she earned her B.A., M.A., and Principal Certificate at the University of Washington and is currently pursuing her doctorate there as well.
Mrs. Mendoza started her career teaching kindergarten through third grade before becoming a head teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She has served in Seattle Public Schools, the Archdiocese of Seattle, and the Bainbridge Island School District, and is now proud to be part of the Bremerton School District community!
When she’s not at school, Mrs. Mendoza loves spending time with her family, traveling, kayaking, and caring for her family farm. She is also fluent in Spanish, which helps her connect with and support families in meaningful ways.

Thrilled to join the Armin Jahr and View Ridge community, Mrs. West brings 13 years of dedicated experience in education—most recently serving in the South Kitsap School District—and a background in international teaching. With a heartfelt belief that every student can thrive, Mrs. West fosters a learning environment rooted in high expectations, genuine relationships, collaborative spirit, and strong organizational foundations.
A committed lifelong learner, Mrs. West continually explores fresh ideas and strategies to support students, staff, and families alike. By leading with curiosity, empathy, and a growth mindset, Mrs. West aims to build a school community where every child is seen, supported, and inspired to shine.
