A note from Mrs. Mendoza

Happy Fall, View Ridge Families!
It’s a wonderful time of year, filled with change, excitement, and learning! We are excited to share that we already have 477 students at View Ridge this year. Our staff have been hard at work teaching and reinforcing our SPARK learning expectations: Safe, Positive, Always Have Grit, Responsible, and Kind. Students are reminded of these expectations each and every day and can earn SPARK slips when they demonstrate what it means to be an Otter who SPARKs!
Today, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month during our monthly school assembly. It was especially meaningful for me to share my own story with our students and talk about how Cultural Arts were an important part of my upbringing. I love having opportunities to share our diverse stories and celebrate the many cultures and experiences that make our school community so special.
Later this month, we will celebrate Trick or Treat Street! As we did last year, we will also honor Día de los Muertos as part of this event. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this beautiful cultural tradition. We will create our school ofrenda in the library, where students can honor relatives and loved ones who were important in their lives. Families are welcome to send in a photo to include on the ofrenda. Any photos will be returned to families; please be sure to write your student’s name on the back. This is a celebratory experience, and we hope your family will consider participating!
As mentioned at yesterday’s School Board meeting, October has been proclaimed Disability Awareness Month. This is a particularly meaningful recognition for our View Ridge community, where approximately one-third of our students receive special education services. We work hard to create an inclusive environment where every student is valued, supported, and celebrated for who they are. We are proud of our commitment to all means all and to creating a school where every child belongs.
This month’s family bulletin also includes our grade-level instructional goals, aligned with our district’s essential standards. Each month, you’ll see these updates so you have a clearer picture of what your child is learning and working toward at school.
In addition, teachers will be reaching out this month to schedule parent-teacher conferences on November 5 and 6. Our goal is 100% family participation because your partnership and involvement make a meaningful difference in your child’s learning and success!
As always, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us each day. We are grateful for your partnership, your trust, and the many ways you contribute to our View Ridge community.
With gratitude,
Principal Mendoza

Weather reminder

As the weather starts to change please make sure your students are coming to school with appropriate clothing for that days weather. Our goal is to let kids get fresh air as much as possible so they will be going outside for recess unless it is freezing or pouring.

Trick or Treat Street

Come and celebrate Dia de los Muertos with a community ofrenda (altar) at Trick or Treat Street on October 28, 2026 at View Ridge!  Join us in honoring loved ones who have passed by contributing photos, mementos, or messages to the ofrenda.  Things can be given to the office or to classroom teachers and will be accepted until Tuesday, October 27, 2026.  Please write your child’s name on the back so that they can be returned.  If you have any questions, please call the school or contact your child’s teacher.  Thank you for your support!
